The flagship model in Argon 18’s triathlon/TT lineup gets a facelift for 2015 with a modified front end that gives it an even more aggressive profile against the wind. Along with a few geometry tweaks aimed at improving comfort and stability in the aero position, these new updates result in a frame that tests faster in the wind tunnel and is also lighter than the previous E-118.
Argon 18 calls the new technology ONEness 3.0. It’s essentially a redesign of the cockpit area that results in a more integrated connection between the frame, fork, stem and bars. The top half of a “virtual stem “connects directly to the steering column, clamping the bar in place with a lower stack height. The result is a sleek new look that’s not only more lower and more aero but also stiffer that the previous design. Bonus: It’s also one of the reasons this year’s frameset is 100 grams lighter.
Unlike many of the triathlon superbikes on the market, the 2015 E-118 Next is fully UCI legal. Argon 18 works closely with the German professional cycling team BORA-Argon 18, and its riders rely on this bike for time trial competition. So if you’re aiming for a state time trial championship this year, this may be the bike for you.
