Wilier Triestina Cento1 SR Shimano Dura Ace 9070 Di2 Complete Bike at twohubs.com

The Wilier Triestina Cento1SR has won three United States National Championship titles in the last year. Its combination of low weight and aerodynamic advantage makes it the perfect weapon for a huge range of conditions. The new Cento1SR with a standard aerodynamic seat post will bring this race winning frame to a wider audience.

After a season of racing aboard the Cento1SR, there is no doubt that the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team love the bike. The frame, designed to combine the best of aerodynamics and low weight, has been ridden to victory in the most prestigious races in the United States. Alison Powers rode the Cento1SR to victory on the hilly National Championship course in Chattanooga, TN last year. Powers attacked on the descent, and stayed away from a select field on a long run in to the finish.

We have listened to the feedback from our professional teams, including UHC, and the new Cento1SR is a product of that collaboration. In combination with Ritchey, we have developed a unique Kamm-tail aerodynamic seatpost. In place of the integrated seatmast, the new post maintains the wind-cheating ability of the Cento1SR, but increases the bike’s adaptability to a range of riders. The new seatpost will make travelling with the Cento1SR much simpler, and also improve adjustability for the home mechanic. We have maintained the proven technologies that made the Cento1SR so successful this year; the Di2 ready internal routing and 3D dropout system ensure the bike will be adaptable to every drivetrain on the market.

The Cento1SR will be offered in the United States as a frameset or complete bike. The Dura Ace mechanical groupset was chosen to match the bike’s no fuss approach to racing. Combining the low weight of the Shimano components with the aero-friendly Kamm-tail design, we are confident that the Cento1SR is the perfect bike for the hard working privateer racer.

PRO TeXtreme disc rear wheel at twohubs.com

Riders from the team that won the Tour De France used the new PRO TeXtreme® disc wheel during the competition. The PRO TeXtreme® wheels features the unique TeXtreme® Spread Tow carbon fabrics that reduce weight and improves mechanical performance of the wheel.

Professional cycling teams asked the development team of PRO to design a wheel that is lighter, more aerodynamic but with the same riding experience as PRO’s current wheels. With that challenge the development team started working on a new disc wheel. The results is the PRO TeXtreme® wheel and it is already giving results.

“We are happy to see PRO TeXtreme® wheels contribute to victories already and joining the team of winning TeXtreme® products like Formula 1, etc. We have many customers in the bicycle industry acknowledging the benefits of TeXtreme® and many new bike applications will hit the market soon, hopefully contributing to more victories.” says Andreas Martsman, Vice President Marketing & Sales of Oxeon.

By using the TeXtreme® Technology and a carefully selected resin system PRO was able to keep the weight below 1kg. The nominal weight of the PRO TeXtreme® disc wheel is 975 grams. The PRO TeXtreme® has an overall wide Aerofoil shape and a wide 24mm rim. The woven Spread Tow structure from the TeXtreme® Technology provides a superior surface smoothness. Compared to other wheels, PRO is using a unique wheel building method (pressurized oven) which allows them to create a monocoque (1 piece) construction instead of two half shells bonded together. The monocoque construction helps saving weight but keeps the same rigidity and excellent riding characteristics.

The win in Tour De France puts the PRO TeXtreme® wheels in good company with other winning TeXtreme® featured products and users in among other industries such as Formula 1, ice hockey sticks, surf boards.

TeXtreme® Technology is a flexible and tow size independent technology that enables development of ultra light composite reinforcement solutions tailor-made for specific application needs. TeXtreme® is produced spreading carbon fiber yarns into thin UD tapes that are used to weave a fabric. This renders optimized Spread Tow Tapes and Spread Tow Fabrics that enable production of composite parts that are 20-30% lighter with improved mechanical properties.

PRO 3 spoke TeXtreme front wheel at twohubs.com

PRO has launched what is claimed to be the fastest time trial wheel in the world and it’s a 3-spoke design.

The new PRO trispoke wheel was unveiled and first used at the opening team time trial at the Vuelta a España. It was created with input from Team Sky, something PRO call ‘Co Creation’, so it should be spot on.

It is reinforced by TeXtreme, which lends a distinctive checkerboard pattern to the products it’s used in. TeXtreme is proving popular in the bike industry. It is based on using Spread Tows, instead of yarns, to achieve lighter weight, increased stiffness and higher strength compared to other carbon fibres. They claim to be able to create 20-30% lighter products, but with improved mechanical properties and superior surface smoothness.

Leon Van Strien, Product Manager at PRO, was keen to stress that, “With the selection of materials, we’ve been extremely picky. We used a mix of high level uni-directional (UD) fibers and Spread Tow fabrics. The outside TeXtreme layers have a double function. They keep the weight down and give a match in appearance with our rear TeXtreme disc wheel.”

The rim section is 65mm deep, whilst width is a very wide 28mm at the braking surface. The wheel weighs in at 740g and to prevent interrupting the air flow the valve is positioned behind one of the spokes. Having already worked together to produce the 975g PRO TeXtreme disc wheel Strien mentions above, the engineers at PRO and the Team Sky riders were well set-up to develop the wheel, both in terms of use of materials and tuning ride characteristics.

Colnago C60 Italia Shimano Dura Ace 9070 Di2 Complete Bike at twohubs.com

The ultimate goal is to improve the bicycle: to make it more efficient, with less rider fatigue and no sacrifice in strength or reliability. The design must be striking. From a marketing standpoint, the frame’s characteristics and technical advantages must stand out and not be completely hidden inside the frame. Star-shaped tubes are a proven design element and have become a signature design element for Colnago frames. It is from this proven design, with the goal of increased frame efficiency without significant sacrifice in comfort or strength, with which the Colnago C60 was born.

In the C60 various cross sections of tubes have increased volume, thinner walls and drastic tube profiles. No attention to detail was spared. The rear dropouts have been completely redesigned for reduced weight and increased lateral stiffness. Even the water bottle mounts were redesigned to reduce weight while maximizing strength.
