Wilier Turbine was designed using NACA aerodynamic profiles and boasts a truncated rear tail, reducing weight and increasing torsional stiffness. The hydraulic disc brake system not only provides superb braking safety in all weather conditions, it also increases the aerodynamic efficiency of the frame. It might seem counter-intuitive, but moving away from rim caliper brakes allowed us to design a fork and rear triangle with wider clearance around the wheels. This leads to a dramatic reduction in air turbulence around the wheels, which improves aerodynamics. Our aerodynamic studies also focused on the handlebar stem/curve, which we designed ourselves. The profile of the Wilier Turbine stem is perfectly integrated with the fork, transforming it into a single, streamlined component with no protrusions or cavities. The resulting aerodynamic line is of the highest possible level.

The number of ergonomic positions that can be achieved with the Wilier Turbine frame are almost limitless. With three frame sizes available, along with three types of seat post and a revolutionary new handlebar design, we can meet the needs of both worlds: time trial and triathlon, two sports which call for very different riding positions.

We know that travelling with a triathlon bike can be complicated. Just looking at the new Bolide TT design tells you it’s faster. The shaping is sleeker everywhere. Start with the aero fork tips. They have an elongated trailing edge, which is both structural (it is UCI-approved, after all), and aerodynamic. The fork legs are more widely-spaced to provide more room for wide-rimmed wheels, and are also narrower when seen from the front, to cut through the wind better. The bayonet fork’s head tube cover section, is likewise further shaped to present a better leading edge. The scallops on the head tube, top tube, and seat tube better channel wind smoothly around the bike. The downtube hugs the front wheel more closely for the upper section, and the lower section is concave on the trailing edge to better shield a round water bottle from the wind as well as improve airflow around the seat tube and wheels.
